Remote Development Editor

he Senior. Development Editor is responsible for developing and reviewing manuscripts for digital delivery. Responsibility also includes the editorial execution of a specific project (s) or parts of projects. This position is responsible for implementing and updating editorial guides; storyboarding course scripts, establishing productive relationships with external vendors and contractors; implementing and monitoring best practices workflow processes; and facilitating peer mentoring. This position requires an exceptional ability to contribute to and oversee the execution of project schedules; interface with all levels of project stakeholders; and execute high-profile deliverables with expediency and keen attention to detail. The individual must be a creative, diplomatic innovator who can balance multiple business demands, such as pedagogical quality, budgetary requirements, resource limitations, and fixed project schedules, while maintaining a positive, solution-oriented attitude.

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:
Attend cross-functional meetings and interface with product managers, project managers, functional managers, and subject-matter experts
Contribute to project documentation, metrics, budgets, and reports
Interface with vendors, contractors, and agency help
Contribute to implementation and ongoing maintenance of the development editorial guides and documents
Provide precision editorial services for high-profile, on-demand projects such as marketing collateral, presentations, prototypes, and other special projects
Interface with the legal department on questions of rights and permissions and document outcomes
Assist in the recommendation, adoption, and implementation of global resources.
Requirements:
B.A./B.S. in journalism, English, professional writing, or related field required
M.A. preferred
Minimum of 5 years writing, editing, and validating content (and assets) for diverse audiences, products, and delivery systems
Recent leadership or supervisory experience with evidence of growing responsibility
Significant experience within the education field preferred

Skills/knowledge/abilities '
Proven experience leading teams of writers and editors with an emphasis on collaborative decision making, thorough documentation and successful implementation
Proven experience interfacing with product managers, project managers, functional managers, and vendors, contractors, and agency help
Previous experience contributing to project documentation, metrics, budgets, and reports
Ability to provide precision editorial services for high-profile, on-demand projects such as marketing collateral, presentations, prototypes, and other special projects
Ability to assist in the recommendation, adoption, and implementation of global resources.
Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with MS Project.
Excellent communication skills and detailed oriented.
