Job-related RFP

by
The Association of Educational Publishers
Subject: Improving Learning Resources through Diversity (ILRTD)

Background
In 2009, a Pennsylvania grant funded a pilot program that laid the foundation for a
large-scale initiative to attract and retain a diverse industry talent pool. In 2010, a
Diversity Advisory Board was formed to assist in the development of a 3-year diversity
plan. This plan was approved by the AEP Board in December, 2010. An ILRTD
Committee was also formed to carry forward some aspects of the work. Other aspects,
in particular management and fundraising, have been the exclusive responsibility of
AEP.

AEP now seeks a short-term project manager to initiate and complete several
foundational support elements, including assisting in the fundraising effort and
launching other short-term initiatives (such as social media) that will move the initiative
forward during the next 6 months.

Scope of Work

The selected bidder will be expected to:
• Develop an industry brand identity
• Identify compelling stories to support the case for funding ILRTD
• Seek pledges for “seed money” from members
• Seek pledges for more substantial contributions from external parties
• Create approach and criteria for industry research
• Provide regular, dynamic updates to current website
• Contribute to development and implementation of social media strategy
• Plan and execute quarterly diversity awards recognition
• Define and document roles of current and future AEP staff

A. Provide information and samples that establish your organization's experience in
the education industry and with the defined scope of work
B. Provide credentials for the individual to be assigned to this project
C. Provide a work plan for addressing the scope and objectives of this RFP
D. Include recommendations for project integration and ongoing management
E. Provide a fee proposal, as well as an estimate of out-of-pocket costs

AEP anticipates awarding a four- to six-month contract, but reserves the right not to
award any contract.

Proposals must be received no later than August 5, 2011, at The Association of
Educational Publisher’s headquarters, 300 Martin Luther King Blvd, Suite 200,
Wilmington, DE 19801. Proposals may also be submitted by email to:
mail@aepweb.org. A decision will be made by August 7, 2011, and work is expected to
begin by August 15, 2011.

• 35 points for credentials and expertise of the organization
• 15 points for knowledge and understanding of the project
• 15 points for soundness of work plan
• 15 points for cost effectiveness
