Math Item Writer

IXL is looking for creative, motivated math item writers to join our content development team. In this role, you will write engaging, high-quality math word problems for K-12 students, with an emphasis on late elementary and middle school content.
This is a part-time contract position with the opportunity to work remotely.
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Write single-step and multi-step math word problems.
  • Construct student-facing explanations describing how to solve each problem.
  • Brainstorm topics for interesting, fun, age-appropriate problem contexts.
  • Meet writing specifications and requirements.
  • Accept and implement feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in math or education
  • Knowledge of K-12 math curriculum, with especially strong knowledge of late elementary, middle school, and/or Algebra 1 content.
  • Clear, engaging writing style with a creative flair.
  • K-12 teaching experience is preferred.
  • Prior item writing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to relate to K-12 students.
  • Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for mathematics.

$30 - $40/hour
