POSITION: Environmental Education Outreach Online Learning Specialist and Implementer Post-Doctoral Associate, full-time position, 40 hrs/wk, non-tenure trackSTARTING DATE:By October 15, 2013
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is an “outreach post-doc” in that the successful candidate will provide guidance and leadership in enhancing the online learning opportunities of a major environmental education outreach project. The online courses and related learning opportunities are being offered through EPA’s National Environmental Education Training Program—“EECapacity”—in collaboration with the Cornell University Civic Ecology Lab. Specific duties include:
- Develop and implement two new online courses: (1) Environmental Education: Finding Common Ground with Faith-Based, Military, and the Professional Sports Communities and (2) Environmental Education: Facing the Reality of Climate Change.
- Implement one previously developed online course: Measuring Environmental Education Outcomes.
- Investigate and recommend online platforms and pedagogical strategies appropriate for different types of online classes and related learning opportunities being offered through EECapacity and Cornell’s Civic Ecology Lab.
- Review the entire suite of online courses being offered through EECapacity and work with supervisor to upgrade course materials (e.g., through adding multi-media components) and to convert courses to self-taught format with accompanying opportunities for social networking.
- Develop long-term online learning and business model for continuation of all EECapacity online courses beyond EPA funding.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
· PhD in environmental education or related field (e.g., education, natural resources, communication, environmental psychology)
· Demonstrated ability to develop and implement environmental education and/or related courses
· Familiarity with online learning and associated platforms and technologies
· Familiarity with use of multi-media resources in online learning
Preferred:
· Familiarity with educational evaluation and research (preferred)
