I tend to stay away from blind craigslist ads that ask for samples. Who knows what they will do with them? I like to assume that anyone who "advertises" in this manner is just fishing for free content.
Does anyone else feel that it's unprofessional to ask for so much information without even identifying your company? What's the deal with that?
I may have been 'had' once when I submitted a sample set of test items, but I used a passage for which they'd have to obtain permission if they are operating above board.
As long as we're not talking about secure items, would it not be acceptable to share samples of your work that have already been published elsewhere (or soon will be)? You'd be sure to state this when submitting the samples.
I have sent in samples that were in published works and made sure I told them they were published.
I once sent in some sample SAT questions and never heard back. I don't have any idea whether they were used or not. I'm not even sure how I would find out.
