Leads

Morning,

I received a lead in email that I'd like to pass on to you:

Hi Laura,

Thanks for getting back to me. To give you some background, we are a startup company developing test prep materials for the teacher certification market. The two projects are as follows:

Content for Grammar and Writing Coursehttp://www.guru.com/pro/ProjectDetail.aspx?ProjectId=627095&PID=466f576a38686d43&from=search

Content for Reading Comprehension Course
http://www.guru.com/pro/ProjectDetail.aspx?ProjectId=626448&PID=466f576939685350&from=search

Bidding for the Reading Comp. course ends in two days and I am loathe to extend it for another seven so if you could post today I would greatly appreciate it! Telecommuting is fine on both projects.

Thank you,
Conor

The leads are both on Guru.com. You will need to sign in to see the details. I don't have a Guru account, so I didn't go too far.

Good luck!
Laura

Happy Writing and Happy Thanksgiving too

After a long day and checking several sites, I apologize for very little in the lead department today.
  • Several leads were dated yesterday or Monday... so with further ado here is all I got for ya.....
Happy Thanksgiving....I am grateful to part of those who love to write and those who want to write for a living.
Have a wonderful holiday and look for better leads after turkey day.
Blessings to all
Terri

New Resource for the Educational Markets

Evelyn Christensen has put together an excellent resource for educational writers. It's amazing! I plan on using it often. Please visit her at Educational Markets for Children's Writers. I've put a permanent link to it on the right of this page.

Thanks so much, Evelyn!

Focusing on the Education Market

I’ve decided to focus this blog on writing for the educational market. I haven’t seen anything out there that fills that need. I’ve looked because I’ve needed it. So I will put what I know and what I learn as I go. Hopefully, some of you will be able to add needed information through your comments.

I currently work at an educational publisher and have had some experience working with freelance writers from the other side of the desk. I will do my best to take advantage of my resources there.

As a start, I will post the freelancing link to Cengage Learning, formerly Thomson Learning. If you're looking for the freelancing info from the main page, look to the bottom for careers at Cengage.

I've also got a couple of places I visit at least once a week for freelance jobs that are not necessarily for the education market. I learn a lot about freelance writing from Deborah Ng and get great sources from Anne Wayman.

That's all I have time for today. I will post again soon. Please post comments if I've erred or you have information to add.

Thanks,
Laura
