Freelance Education Writers

News & World Report, a publisher of news and information that empowers
people to make better, more informed decisions about important issues affecting
their lives, is actively seeking multiple, experienced contract/freelance
higher education writers to expand the breadth of content available at usnews.com/education. U.S. News is
based in Washington, D.C., but contractors/freelancers
will work remotely.
We
are looking for contract writers with expertise to cover the following topics
on a weekly basis:
- Online education, to supplement the Best Online Programs rankings and editorial coverage
- International education, to supplement the Best Global Universities and Best Arab Region Universities rankings and editorial coverage
- College savings (including 529 plans), to supplement the Paying for College coverage
Contractors/Freelancers
will know how to write for the Web, with a talent for consumer-focused articles
aimed at prospective students and parents. Our online articles, typically
around 700-750 words, explore education trends, dispel myths and contain
actionable advice for readers looking to make informed choices about higher
education. We do not cover breaking news or the ins and outs of education
policy.
Contractors/Freelancers
should be able to cultivate a variety of sources, generate story ideas that do
not duplicate existing content and work on deadline.
